About Mary
"When I was a child my parents moved to Dover from Hertfordshire and from the start I was enthralled with the hills, cliffs and beaches, spending many hours walking my dog. My parents and I travelled all over East Kent, getting to know towns, villages and the beautiful beaches in the area.
In the autumn of 2007 I became a Kent Greeter. I am Area Co-ordinator for the White Cliffs Country district and have been a member of the Kent Greeter steering group for 2 years.
Kent Greeters belong to a global network and were set up by Visit Kent 4 years ago in preparation for the 2012 Olympics, based on and with the assistance of the New York Big Apple Greeters.
I like nothing better than showing visitors 'my Dover' and to encourage them to return to visit the many attractions the area has to offer. It was my love of the wonderful White Cliffs area that prompted me to become a Kent Greeter.
The Greeter concept is a completely free service provided by like minded volunteers who care about their towns and villages, and want to share this with visitors to Kent.
I have met many interesting people as a greeter and hope in some small way I have helped make their visit to Dover memorable.
I consider I live in one of the loveliest places in the world, and although I have travelled quite extensively, I am always glad to return home to My Dover."
