Matt Crittenden

Job Title: Education Officer and Primate Keeper

Organisation: Port Lympne Wild Animal Park

About Matt

I was a Primate keeper at Port Lympne for 6 years before moving across to the Park’s education department in April 2010. My education roles include visiting schools and colleges, talks for various organisations and groups that visit the park and running bespoke tours of the park. I also do the Keeper Academy and Junior Ranger experience days, which are designed for teenagers and kids to experience life as a wild animal keeper. I am also still involved with the care of the primates at the park.

What I enjoy most about my job is talking to people and talking about the animals that I have looked after. The things I enjoy most about living in Kent are the warmer climate and the friendly people. I love the fact that Kent is coastal and I own a boat.

As a keeper and education officer I am involved in the park’s Sunset Safaris which are fantastic way for the public to get up close to iconic wildlife at the best time of day to see them. It is also unbeatable to see the views over the marsh and across the channel to France at that time of day.
