It's an interesting museum, covering the Royal Engineers and their past and present history. It has a suprisingly wide range of resources. From early photos, uniforms, a mock up of a trench, a harrier jump jet, a vast collection of medals to the piece of Berlin wall outside, this is history very well presented. It's in Prince Arthur Road, Gillingham, not that far from Chatham and its docks. If you are in the area, it is well worth a look.

Very interesting visit, plenty to see and learn about. We had a guided tour and saw most of the exhibits. Well worth a trip.

My older brother, now deceased, was in the Royal Engineers in the 1950s. When the chance came up to visit the museum, courtesy of Big Weekend, I went for it. I have a few photos of his time in the army, it was his National Service. I was hoping to learn a bit more about them, unfortunately, the museum was not able to help. Despite that, the day was not wasted, what a fantastic place to visit whether you're 9 or 90; whether you're an ex-Sapper; or just know someone who was. A truly memorable visit, one that I would recommend to anyone.

My husband is a serving Engineer and we won tickets through the Big Weekend competition so took my father along too (his father was also an RE). It was a great trip out - just a few minutes walk from where we live. Unfortunately there were some galleries closed due to being updated, but it didn't alter the good experience, we will just be going back after October 2011 when they reopen! My son loved all the vehicles and the Harrier Jump Jet and it was quite emotional seeing all the medals and reading the stories. The trench was a good experience. The museum is well laid out and the staff are fantastic. We were informed that all serving RE's and their immediate families are entitled to free entry. Definitely worth a look to see the history behind the Corp.

I went there because my Father was in the Royal Engineers during the war. I found a well laid out, comprehensive and diverse museum. We had a nice chat with the lady behind the ticket desk, about the medals on show and guide stopped to help us find the mouse 'hidden' in a painting. Everyone was very friendly. Only a tiny area with some vending machines to have a snack, so do what we did and have a nice cooked breakfast before you arrive.
